Via US-75 South. Estimates are non-rush-hour and will vary with traffic.

Grayson County has spent a long time as the part of North Texas where flying means committing an extra two hours to the road. Sherman to DFW is about 69 miles and 75 minutes; Sherman to Dallas Love Field is about 64 miles and 69 minutes. Round trip, that is close to two and a half hours of driving attached to every flight.

McKinney National Airport is about 32 miles south on US-75, roughly 37 minutes. It is not next door — this is the longest drive of any city we cover where DTX still wins — but it halves the journey, and it is a single straight run down US-75 rather than a crossing of the Dallas metroplex.

For Sherman the small route map cuts both ways. It covers exactly the trips people drive two hours to the airport for: Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers from November 11, 2026, then Denver, Atlanta, Nashville, and New Orleans from mid-December. Mostly leisure, mostly with luggage, the kind of trip where the drive is the part you dread.

Drive times are non-rush-hour estimates. US-75 southbound is straightforward outside the Sherman and Van Alstyne commute peaks, and the Collin County stretch through Anna and Melissa is where delays actually appear.
