Avelo Airlines Confirms November 11, 2026 Launch at McKinney National Airport

McKinney National Airport's years of planning have a launch date. On June 30, 2026, the City of McKinney and Avelo Airlines confirmed that commercial passenger service begins November 11, 2026, from a new 46,000-square-foot terminal with four gates, expandable to six.

Avelo will base two aircraft at the airport — now branded with the commercial code DTX, distinct from the TKI code that continues to apply to general aviation — and fly five nonstop routes at launch: Las Vegas (LAS, 4x weekly), Orlando (MCO, 5x weekly), Tampa (TPA, 4x weekly), Fort Lauderdale (FLL, 5x weekly), and Fort Myers (RSW, 2x weekly). That's 20 weekly departures at launch.

McKinney Mayor Bill Cox called the announcement a reflection of "demand for convenient air travel closer to home," adding that it "reinforces McKinney's position as a destination." Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said the airline's "everyday low fares, convenient and reliable service, combined with an easy-to-use, small airport, will resonate with North Texas travelers." Airport Director Ken Carley framed it simply: "For North Texas travelers, this means more choice and the opportunity to begin their journey closer to home."
