DTX's Opening Calendar: Which Avelo Flights Leave McKinney Each Day, November to Christmas

DTX opens with one flight on day one and never flies on Tuesdays. If you're planning Thanksgiving or Christmas around McKinney, the day of the week decides everything.

McKinney National Airport's new passenger terminal, which opens to Avelo flights on November 11, 2026

Update, October 26, 2026: on October 15, Avelo added Sarasota/Bradenton (from Wednesday, December 16; Wednesdays and Saturdays) and West Palm Beach (from Thursday, December 17; Thursdays and Sundays), plus two seasonal Las Vegas flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays with no published start date. From December 16 that makes seven departures on Thursdays and Sundays, six on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, and four on Wednesdays: 36 a week, or 38 once the extra Las Vegas flights run. November is unchanged. The calendar below is as originally published.

McKinney National Airport (DTX) doesn't open with a full schedule. Avelo's nine routes start on four different dates, and each route flies only on set days of the week. We've laid Avelo's published schedule out on a calendar so you can see which flights actually leave on the day you want to go.

Opening week is quiet. Wednesday, November 11, has a single departure: the first flight, to Fort Myers. From Thursday the 12th through Monday the 16th there are two flights a day: Las Vegas and Orlando, with Fort Myers in place of Las Vegas on Saturday. Tuesday the 17th has no flights, and Wednesday the 18th is Fort Myers only again.

Things pick up on Thursday, November 19, when Tampa and Fort Lauderdale start. From then on, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays have four departures each (Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale), and Saturdays have three (Fort Myers, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale).

There are no Tuesday flights on any route, at any point in the schedule, and Wednesdays are Fort Myers only until December 16. Build your trip around the days DTX actually flies, or you'll end up at DFW anyway.

Thanksgiving is where this matters most. Wednesday, November 25, the busiest travel day of the year at most airports, has just one DTX departure: Fort Myers. Tuesday the 24th has none. If you're flying out for the holiday, the realistic choices are Monday the 23rd or Thanksgiving Day itself (Thursday the 26th), which has the usual four: Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale. Coming home, Sunday the 29th and Monday the 30th both have four.

December adds the second wave. Denver and Atlanta start Wednesday, December 16, flying Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, which finally gives DTX real Wednesday service. Nashville and New Orleans start Thursday, December 17, flying Thursdays and Sundays. From that week on, DTX has six departures on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, five on Saturdays, three on Wednesdays, and still none on Tuesdays: 32 a week in all.

One caveat: this is Avelo's published weekly pattern. Airlines often trim or add flights around holidays, and Avelo can change the schedule until you've bought a ticket. Before you plan a trip around a specific date, check that day's flights on aveloair.com, and if it doesn't fly when you need it, our DFW and Love Field guide covers the backup.
