DTX Parking: What's Confirmed, and What's Still Missing

McKinney National Airport's new commercial terminal opens November 11, 2026 with a 980-space public parking lot, built with room to expand to 1,450 spaces. The lot is served by a dedicated access road off FM 546, separating terminal traffic from the airport's existing general-aviation entrances.

Four categories of parking are planned around the terminal: short-term parking for pickups and meet-and-greet arrivals, a daily and hourly area closest to the building, economy long-term parking for multi-day trips, and a free cell-phone waiting lot for drivers timing an arrival.

What is still missing is the part travelers actually need: the rates. The airport has selected a parking vendor and indicated that rates were anticipated to be posted by September 2026. As of September 7, 2026, no rates have been published — five weeks before the first Avelo departure.

That matters more than it sounds. Parking cost is the single biggest variable in whether flying from DTX beats driving to DFW or Love Field for a Collin County traveler. A short walk from a 980-space lot is worth real money against DFW's remote lots and shuttle time, but only once there is a number to compare.

Until rates are published, budget using comparable regional Texas airports rather than DFW's published rates, and plan to confirm before you book a multi-day trip. We will update this page the day official DTX rates are posted.
