Avelo Airlines at McKinney
Avelo Airlines is McKinney National Airport's confirmed commercial launch carrier, basing three aircraft at the new DTX terminal and flying 11 nonstop routes: five from November 11–19, 2026 and six more from December 16–17.
Avelo Airlines confirmed on June 30, 2026 that it will launch commercial service from McKinney National Airport's new DTX terminal on November 11, 2026, initially basing two aircraft on-site.
The launch lineup is five nonstop routes: Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers, at a combined 20 weekly departures.
On September 24, 2026, before a single flight had operated, Avelo added four more: Denver and Atlanta from December 16 (4x weekly, Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat), and Nashville and New Orleans from December 17 (2x weekly, Thu/Sun). It also moved a third Boeing 737-800 to the McKinney base. On October 15, 2026, it added two more: Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ) from December 16 (2x weekly, Wed/Sat) and West Palm Beach (DJT, formerly PBI) from December 17 (2x weekly, Thu/Sun), plus two seasonal Las Vegas flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. That takes DTX to 11 routes and up to 38 weekly departures.
Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said the airline's "everyday low fares, convenient and reliable service, combined with an easy-to-use, small airport, will resonate with North Texas travelers." Avelo now puts the McKinney base at about 150 jobs, including pilots, flight attendants, and aircraft technicians.
Avelo's fare includes one free personal item up to 17 × 13 × 9 inches that fits under the seat in front of you. A carry-on for the overhead bin (up to 22 × 14 × 9 inches) and checked bags (up to 50 pounds and 62 linear inches) cost extra, and they cost less when you add them at booking than at the airport. For a weekend trip, a well-packed under-seat bag is often all you need.
