Prosper to DTX: what it costs
From Prosper, McKinney National is about 16 minutes closer than either Dallas airport. Here is what that is worth in money as well as time.
The short answer

Flying from Prosper
Prosper is one of the cleanest cases in Collin County. McKinney National is about 14 miles east via US-380, roughly 24 minutes. DFW is about 33 miles and 40 minutes; Dallas Love Field is about 32 miles and 39 minutes. There is no close call and no toss-up — both Dallas airports cost you about 16 extra minutes in each direction, and both require crossing into traffic Prosper residents generally arrange their lives to avoid.
The time argument is stronger still once you account for the airports themselves rather than the roads. A 24-minute drive to a four-gate terminal with a surface lot and one checkpoint means leaving home about two hours before departure. The same flight from DFW means leaving closer to 2 hours 50 minutes, or 3 hours 10 minutes if you use the Remote lot and its shuttle; Love Field lands at about 2 hours 45. Over a round trip that is between an hour and a half and two and a half hours of your holiday handed back to logistics.
Money is the part where the honest answer is incomplete, and it is worth being blunt about why. Fuel barely moves the needle: at 25 mpg and around $2.85 a gallon, the difference between a 14-mile and a 33-mile drive is a few dollars each way. Bag fees are identical wherever you fly from. What could swing a family trip by a hundred dollars is parking. DTX is reported at $15 a day. DFW's cheapest on-airport lot is $14 a day, rising to $16 by credit card from October 1, 2026; Love Field's Garage B roof is $18. At those rates parking is a wash against DFW Remote and a clear win against everything else, so the time saving comes free.
The preset below assumes four travelers on a five-day trip, because that is the shape of trip Prosper's route map mostly serves — Avelo flies to Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers from November, adding Denver, Atlanta, Nashville, and New Orleans in December. It is still a leisure network more than a business one. Change the numbers to match your trip.
The constraint to keep in view: nine routes, one airline, and a schedule where three of the nine fly only twice a week. For anything outside that map, Prosper's answer is still the 40-minute drive south, and no amount of proximity changes it.
