What that fare actually costs
Start with the fare you saw advertised, then add the things that are not in it. Toggle any line off to see exactly what it is costing you.
Where these numbers come from
Parkinguses each airport’s published daily rate, including DFW’s October 1, 2026 increase once it takes effect. DTX has published none, so its parking line stays out of the total until you supply a rate. See published rates.
Airline fees — bags, seats, priority boarding — are editable assumptions, not quoted rates. Check your own fare bundle before trusting the total. Airlines serving the area.
Fuelis priced from the distance to the airport, your vehicle’s fuel economy, and a gas price you can change. A drop-off costs twice the fuel of parking, because your driver makes the trip twice.
Questions about this tool
Why is my real trip cost so much higher than the fare?
Because the fare is one line of several. Two checked bags on a round trip, seat selection for two people, four days of parking, and the fuel to get there routinely add more than the advertised fare itself on a low-cost carrier.
Are these the actual fees my airline charges?
No. They are editable defaults typical of a low-cost carrier. Airline fees change without notice, so we would rather give you a number you can correct than quote a schedule that may already be stale. Southwest, for example, includes two checked bags on most fares — set that fee to zero.
Does this include the return drive and parking?
Yes. Fuel is priced round trip, and parking is charged per started day for the whole trip length.
Can I compare two airports this way?
Use the airport comparison calculator for that — it runs the same cost engine across DTX, DFW, and Love Field side by side.
